The PowerConnect 6248 is a layer 3 enterprise class switch with 48 GbE ports, supporting up to four 10GbE uplink ports and/or resilient stacking with the appropriate modules. The PowerConnect 6248 can stack up to twelve 6200 series switches.

Front-end SFP Fiber Transceivers
The PowerConnect 6224 series offers flexible configurability to meet your environment's specific needs. The last four front-end 1GbE ports are copper by default, but can be upgraded to fiber if you need to span greater distances, avoid interference, or increase security. Copper 1GbE connections can span 100M. 1GbE optics are capable of up to 275M (short range) over multimode-, and 10km (long range) over single-mode fiber-optic cable. Each port upgrade requires a separate SFP.
