Server RAID Controller
The PowerVault MD1120 is supported only on the PERC 6/E RAID controller. Installed in a PCI-express slot inside a PowerEdge Server, the RAID controller creates a logical volume across multiple hard drives (or spindles) for performance and protection. A RAID controller is not required if the MD1120 is being daisychained to another MD-series Dell storage enclosure.

A cable is needed to connect the PowerVault MD1120 to the server RAID controller or to daisy-chain behind another MD-series storage enclosure. SAS cables are constructed using twin-axial wiring to support high-bandwidth differential signaling.
